Happy New Year, especially for the games industry...
An industry analyst's report for the year ending 2006 tells us that stocks of major game publishers are up on a 5 year high, thanks in no small part to the Xbox360. On the other hand, what are wii told about the kinds of games that drive this resurgence to 2001 success levels?

"The big products of holiday 2001 were Grand Theft Auto III, Halo, Final Fantasy X and Madden NFL 2002. Flash forward five years and we are talking Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo 3, Final Fantasy XII and Madden NFL 07."


Innovation may be one thing that is not growing, and that may be one good reason why we are here, but despite its groaning familiarity, I will say one thing for the 360 - Viva Pinata!
