Since its nearly Christmas we should join with all of those other sites in voting for our favourite games (you can vote for more than one game) of 2007. I can add other games if your favourite isn't here.

I voted Oblivion, for the simple fact that it consumed my summer completely. Having been a huge fan of Morrowind when I played it on PC (also consumed a summer season too), Oblivion just evolved the series perfectly. I was also lucky enough to escape the wrath of (most of) the bugs that plagued so many peoples experience of the game. Technically it was out last year on 360 but I still only got round to playing it this year.

If I had to choose a true 2007 game, it would be Bioshock. Although limited in longevity with no online play, I had a fantastic experience playing it. Halo 3 comes in close second for its almost perfect online system.

Having finished CoD4, Halo 3, 53 stars so far in Mario Galaxy, and almost finishing Oblivion, Portal, Half-Life 2 and Bioshock I can vouch that these are all great games. Halo 3 was a very polished game and has good online play but it didn't feel that new. Oblivion was addictive and very playable with a huge world but strangely empty at times - story was slim. Orange Box is a great package but Half-Life is dated and Portal is too limited (Team Fortress is excellent mind). Bioshock had an incredible world that was crying out for more of an adventure based game than shooter. CoD4 is already a classic to my mind, an assault on the senses and a perfectly constructed player experience. I never thought I'd say this because I wasn't a big fan of Mario 64, but I think Mario Galaxy is an almost perfect example of a videogames - or it would be if it was on Xbox and had achievements! :-) Everything from the musical score, to the excellent control and bite size levels are perfection. I suppose what seals it for me as the game of the year is that I believe it reinvents (or invents) the 3D puzzle adventure.
